Description of Event:
Deviant sexual interests and poor sexual self-regulation have been linked to increased rates of sexual reoffending among adult males convicted of sexual crimes. Evidence indicates that programs specifically targeting these atypical sexual interests are more effective than those that do not. This talk will review the evidence base and strategies for assisting individuals in better managing atypical interests through environmental, cognitive, behavioral, and pharmacological interventions.
Robert McGrath, M.A. is a consultant, trainer, and former clinical director of the Vermont DOC’s network of prison and community treatment programs for sexual offending. Bob has served on consultation teams for treatment programs throughout the U.S. and the national programs for sexual offending in Canada, the United Kingdom, and Hong Kong.
