Description of Event:
The Risk Matrix 2000 is a static actuarial scale assessing risk of sexual recidivism. It is similar in many ways to Static-99R, but offers some unique advantages, including that it can be used for men whose only sexual convictions are for possession of child sexual exploitation material(s). This presentation will provide a brief overview of some of our latest research and developments related to the Risk Matrix 2000, including validation with men convicted of CSEM offences (and comparisons to the CPORT risk tool), how Risk Matrix 2000 results can be integrated with the STABLE-2007, and how it can provide evidence-based treatment need indicators in situations where a dynamic risk assessment is not practical. This presentation is not a training on how to score the instrument.
Prerequisites:
Individuals are most likely to benefit from this training if they have some knowledge of sexual offending and individuals who commit sexual offences. As well, the training assumes basic familiarity with the criminal justice system and related terms.
Notes for Participants:
Training delivered via Zoom. Duration is 1 hour.
Maximum number of seats: 500
Note: Registrants should sign up using the email address of the person ATTENDING the talk so they can receive important announcements (e.g., Zoom link, training materials).
