Description of Event:
The ODARA is a well-validated actuarial risk tool for intimate partner violence.  Participants in this training will learn about the development, scoring, and interpretation of the ODARA. We will discuss the applicability of the ODARA for assessment of risk for future intimate partner violent (IPV) recidivism in men with a history of physical IPV offending, and current applicability of the ODARA for women. Additionally, we will discuss risk communication methods for the ODARA and use of the ODARA in criminal justice and victim service settings. Participants will also learn the prorating technique for ambiguous information. Recent validation and calibration studies by the presenter and by independent researchers will also be discussed. This is a didactic training in which participants will have the opportunity to complete scoring vignettes during the training as well as the opportunity for post-training certification.

Prerequisites:
Individuals are most likely to benefit from this training if they have some knowledge of intimate partner violence. The training also assumes basic familiarity with the criminal justice system and related terms.
