Description of Event:
Men whose only sexual offences involve child sexual exploitation materials (CSEM) present special concerns for risk assessment. This presentation review recent research on the CPORT, which is the most commonly used and most researched actuarial risk tool for men with a history of CSEM offending. The presentation will cover a recent review of risk assessment tools for CSEM offending, an unpublished meta-analysis of CSEM sample recidivism rates, updates on CPORT recidivism norms, and a new study of the construct validity of the Correlates of Admission to Sexual Interest in Children (CASIC; a companion measure to the CPORT). Proposed changes to CPORT item scoring, and implications for evaluators will be discussed.
