Acute-2007
Overview
ACUTE-2007 is a short-term dynamic risk assessment instrument that identifies imminent risk factors for sexual reoffending. It complements STABLE-2007 by monitoring acute, situational changes that may signal elevated risk, such as substance abuse relapse, victim access, or emotional collapse. Designed for frequent reassessment (e.g., weekly or monthly), ACUTE-2007’s seven items are sensitive to day-to-day shifts in behavior or environment. It is intended for use in community supervision, conditional release, and high-risk management teams. ACUTE-2007 enables practitioners to act quickly on elevated risk before new offences occur.

Policy and Practice
ACUTE-2007 is appropriate for community supervision settings, allowing officers and treatment providers to detect high-risk patterns early. It should be used in conjunction with a structured method of risk/needs assessment, such as the STABLE-2007 and a static risk tool (e.g., Static-99R). The ACUTE-2007 can be quickly rescored at every communication without rescoring other risk tools.
