Static-2002R is an actuarial risk scale combining easily available information to assess adult men charged or convicted of a sexually motivated offence. Compared to Static-99R it has increased conceptual clarity and greater consistency in coding rules. Static-2002R predicts sexual recidivism with moderate accuracy. BARR-2002R is derived from items within Static-2002R and predicts violent/any recidivism with moderate to high accuracy. This training is appropriate for anyone involved in risk assessment for those convicted of sexually motivated offences (familiarity with Static-99R not required). The training will present background information on the Static-2002R and BARR-2002R and will teach participants how to score, report, and interpret both scales in applied evaluations.
Prerequisites: Individuals are most likely to benefit from this training if they have some knowledge of sexual offending and individuals who commit sexual offences. As well, the training assumes basic familiarity with the criminal justice system and related terms.
Electronic versions of training materials (scoring manuals, exercises, evaluators’ workbooks, etc.) will be available approximately two weeks prior to the start of the training.
The training will be delivered via Zoom.
Only 25 seats available.
